The Farmers Market Nutrition Program (FMNP) and Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program (SFMNP) in Minnesota seek to provide fresh, unprepared, locally grown fruits and vegetables to WIC participants and income eligible seniors, and to expand the awareness, use of, and sales at farmers’ markets. Attendees at the Cottage Food Producer Food Safety Training (Tier 2) were introduced to Cottage Food Legislation, Cottage Food Processing Methods, engaged in learning stations for drying/baking/water activity testing/jams and jellies/canning/pH testing and fermentation, learned about protecting food from contamination during production, safe packing and labeling, Point of Sale safety and how to register as a Cottage Food Producer.
